One of the stars of the tournament for Romania; made a number of crucial saves against Italy and his stop from Robin van Persie against the Netherlands was world class.
- Tuesday 17 June 2008
The FC Steaua Bucure?ti goalkeeper will be hoping to maintain his fine form in the first two games and his knowledge of Dutch football from his time at AFC Ajax will be crucial in settling the reshuffled defence in front of him.
- Sunday 15 June 2008
Is a hero with the Tricolorii fans who showed their appreciation at Saturday's open training session. His performances against France and Italy have put the former AFC Ajax and ACF Fiorentina goalkeeper back on the radar.

An excellent performance. Made a series of impressive saves including a first half double block from Luca Toni which kept Romania level at half-time.

- Monday 09 June 2008
Smothered at Florent Malouda's feet in the first half but apart from a close call just before the break when he saved from one of his own defenders, it was a comfortable evening for 'The Cat'.

One of two players who smoke in this Romania side – guess the other one – but the goalkeeper had a comfortable evening in this small-sided game, so comfortable he could have been sitting back smoking a cigar.
